How to write the perfect story + More Assumptions

Hi!

Wondering how to write the perfect story? Struggling to build your characters?

Fret not, as the wise and all-knowing Moi is always there to help you!

The protagonist

Obviously, the protagonist is the most important character in your story. I would recommend your protagonist to be a female, ’cause, ya know, feminism. And bonus points if they’re in high school or university.

Now, make your protagonist ridiculously good looking, but they got to hate themselves because they’re not popular in school (obviously!)

They also got to be lonely, feel misunderstood and most importantly, only have a single parent. The other one has to die or leave. (Hopefully, the mom dies)

BONUS TIP!

It’s always a good idea for your protagonist to be an orphan!

Friends

I’d recommend for your character to be isolated in school, without any friends, but if you desperately want some, just add 1 or 2 (If you’re adding 2, make sure that it’s a boy and a girl, so that they fall in love in the middle of the series/book.)

School

We’d recommend throwing in a couple mean girls – just for the drama and to emphasize the fact that the protagonist is very unpopular.

Also throw in an extremely biased teacher that everybody hates. Yay! A recipe for a fabulous school!

Also, make your character eat lunch all alone (and hopefully trip and fall and everyone laughs at them until their friend helps them) at least once.

Love Interest

What’s a story without love? Nothing. So be sure to follow these 2 steps!

  • Make the love interest tall, handsome, and having green/blue eyes. Ooh, forgot, they also have to be extremely popular. Extremely. (For bonus points, let them be the boyfriend of the above mean girl)

  • If you don’t want your character to be popular, let them have a horrible backstory. (Due to this, the character will not talk to anyone [except the protagonist, in due course of time] and everyone likes him.)

For optimum cringe, let them know something [a secret universe, who the protagonist really is, blah blah blah, you get the picture]

BONUS TIP!

Here’s a 4000 IQ trick – turn the love interest into a vampire. Or a werewolf. Things are bound to get dramatic if you do!

The Villain

Every great story has an amazing villain, so yours should, too!

Your antagonist could be a mysterious organization, or a person who single-handedly wants to rule the universe or someone else entirely.

For best results, make your villain look exactly like one, though no one knows. Plus, let them kill your protagonist’s parent(s) and let your protagonist know that via the love interest, who knows this somehow.

Your favorite color is mahogany (specific I know) or tan or navy.

Haha! I don’t have a “favorite” color, but I do tend to prefer cooler, muted colors.

You have a tabby cat named uh Nibbles (!!!) and three goldfish. I don’t know where that came from. 😂

Haha! I don’t have any pets! That was oddly specific, Zoe! 😂

You looove fan fiction and YA books. Did I mention the YA?

I despise fan fiction and I am kind of neutral about YA. I don’t know, but all YA novels seem soon similar (that’s how I was inspired to write the above post, actually!)

You like causal outfits. – T-shirts and jeans and sneakers.

Yep. I love casual wear!

You’re bilingual!

Woah, no one guessed that! Yeah… I am bilingual! And I’m proud of it, too!

You’re Hispanic…?

Nope, I’m not Hispanic. I do love Spanish though, and I’m trying to learn it!

  3. Ahaha, that’s such a great guide to writing a novel! Perfection!

    In all seriousness though, YA isn’t so bad. I read mostly YA Fantasy.
    I think you should change your theme. No offense, but it kind of remind’s me of D’s blog, and I think it would help you stand out more if you changed it. And, not to self-promote or anything, but if you need help, I am on the design team at Living the Blogging Life! Myself, (and the other team members) would be glad to help you.

    1. 🙂 I guess the YA novels I have been reading are not all that good… Maybe I should give it a second chance.
      As for the theme, I have been leaning towards changing it. I love redesigning, so I don’t think I will need help, though. Thanks anyway, Diamond! Glad to knowyou love the post!

Okay, some of my favorites are The Lunar Chronicles(sci-fi fairytales) by Marissa Meyer(or anything by her), The Caraval(atmospherical fantasy) series by Stephanie Garber, Long May She Reign(fantasy standalone!) by Rhiannon Thomas, The Twisted Tale series(if you like Disney), The Darkest Minds(fairly stereotypical dystopia, but I liked it), and the Skyward series (aliens, spaceship) by Brandon Sanderson.
